Get active and improve your health and wellbeing by trying something different!

Choose from the huge range of sports and fitness sessions available and collect stamps to receive your medal at the end of the Programme. Sessions run from 4th September to 27th October.
The team at Wythenshawe Games wants to help any Wythenshawe resident achieve their own personal health or physical activity goal. This might be to get a bit fitter, to start a new activity/sport, or even to get back into something you used to do and had to stop for some reason.

That’s why we came up with the idea of Personal Best.

It’s really easy to take part in so get started!

How it works!

  1. Choose which activities you’d like to take part in (you can download a full schedule below or collect a schedule and passport from the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre, Wythenshawe Forum, Benchill Community Centre, Norbrook Youth Centre or Alpha House.
  2. Go along to your sessions and get your passport signed
  3. Drop off your Passport by 28 October to Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre or Wythenshawe Forum
  4. Come along to the closing event on Monday 30th October at 6pm at the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre

Everyone who returns their passport will be entered into a free prize draw to win MUFC and MCFC prizes!

Personal Best Activity Programme w/c Monday 4th September – Friday 27 October

An energetic fitness session to get the heart racing, specifically designed for those people over 50 years of age.

Tailored fitness and self defence concepts for the over 50s, suitable for all ability levels and body types.
Get fit the fun way! You’ll perform a range of cardio moves, taking each at your own pace, all guided by our friendly, motivational instructors. Better for: Cardio fitness and conditioning.
An aerobic fitness programme – in the water – featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music.
Boxercise is an exercise class based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit aimed at men and women of all ages and fitness standards. It is a fun, challenging and safe workout.
An all-over body workout designed to improve mobility, strength, stamina and all-round fitness. This class is suitable for all levels.
The latest exercise craze with simple, fun dance fitness routines using glow sticks to club anthems from 90′s classics to the latest chart hits taught in a darkened room with disco lights.
A coaching session designed for beginners or people wanting to find a way to get back into running. You may want to learn some basic techniques or work your way up to running a 5k.
Coached football sessions in partnership with MU foundation and Better Things, for adults with all disabilities. Beginners welcome.

Coached cricket sessions in partnership with Lancashire Cricket Board and Better Things, for adults with all disabilities. Beginners welcome.

Better results, faster. Push yourself to the limit with 30 minutes of quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short recovery periods that will keep your heart rate up and help you reach your goals quicker. Better for: A full body workout.
For people who are new to exercise. Working one to one with a physiotherapist or an exercise professional, you will work together to set short term goals and find an activity that is enjoyable, and then develop it over time. If and you feel you are ready, there is also the option to join a group session. It’s not about being sporty or fit but about supporting people to find out what suits you.

This class is open to beginners or people looking to return to line dancing after a period of time. It is a friendly and welcoming group and line-dancing is fun, great exercise and you don’t need a dance partner in order to take part.

Come and learn any of the Wythenshawe Black Belt Academy’s 7 different Martial Arts styles in a fun, structured and friendly environment.

Get fit and have fun in a friendly and welcoming environment with this ‘old favourite’ that combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines that improves all elements of fitness.
Mixed martial arts training focused on the basics and fundamentals for beginners aged 16 yrs+

Give netball a try or take the opportunity to get back into it. Wythenshawe Netball Club are established at the Lifestyle Centre and welcome new members.

Traditional Muay Thai and Muay Boran tution expertly taught by former Muay Thai champion Stuart Hurst.

A great way to get fit and learn essential and effective self defence skills.
This class is open to beginners or people looking to return to sequence dancing after a period of time. It is a friendly and welcoming group and sequence dancing is fun and great exercise.
Exercise & Chair based exercise class designed to push you that little bit further and encourage a bit of healthy competition. Better for: Strength, fitness, movement. A class designed for over 50’s.
Once you start, you won’t ever want to stop. These intense, exciting classes combine cardio and conditioning for a full on, high-energy workout. Better for: Strength and conditioning.

If you’re a football fan or just want to stay active why not come and play the slower paced form of the game which is growing in popularity across the Country.

Strictly Wheelchair Dancing is a wheelchair ballroom dancing group for all ages and abilities. Anyone   is welcome no matter what their ability or disability. Wheelchair dancers can learn “combi” style dancing with an able-bodied partner, or “duo” style dancing for two wheelchair users together. Wheelchair users can use an electric or manual wheelchair.
Loosen up and let go. Our mix of Yoga classes feature a range of exercises from energetic, full-body workouts to relaxing, more traditional poses. Better for: Gaining peace of mind, improving overall strength and wellbeing.
